The Rule of Law for Everyday Americans
The “rule of law” is one of America’s most cherished principles and yet today, it is often reduced to a slogan, debated but rarely understood. At a time when public trust in institutions is strained and civic conversations are increasingly polarized, a deeper understanding of the rule of law has never been more important.
The Rule of Law Collaborative (ROLC) at the University of South Carolina — a globally recognized leader in rule of law education and reform — is bringing its world-class expertise home.
For more than a decade, ROLC has trained judges, lawyers, prosecutors, and government officials in more than 20 countries. Now, we are launching Justice by Design: The Rule of Law for Everyday Americans, to deliver U.S.-focused programming.
This dynamic program will transform our internationally tested materials into an interactive, accessible learning experience for South Carolina residents and anyone across the country who wants to better understand how our system works and how it can be protected.
Through short videos, interactive modules, and gamified exercises, this program will make civic education engaging, practical, and empowering. It will serve individuals seeking clarity in complex times, organizations promoting civic literacy, and educators looking for high-quality classroom resources.
