Empowering Future Citizens: Help Support Literacy and Journalism for a Stronger Society

Help CIC continue to positively impact South Carolina’s future by supporting its two signature service outreach programs that directly benefit children and young adults.

Reading and Literacy - Benefiting Children

Reading and literacy are a challenge in South Carolina but Cocky’s Reading Express — celebrating 20 years — is addressing this need. Cocky visits Title 1 schools to get students, from 4k through third grade, throughout South Carolina excited about reading. Help us raise enough to give out 20,000 books this year! Imagine what a difference that will make.

Media Skills Programs - Benefiting tomorrow’s journalists

Our society needs good journalism now more than ever. Help support future journalists and communicators enrolled in South Carolina middle and high schools. CIC is home to two organizations that support these students through conferences, award contests, summer camps and more. Donations will be used to help defray the costs of attending these conferences for students who might not otherwise be able to attend. Help us continue to support students with a passion for journalism!

Whether you give to Cocky’s Reading Express or our high school journalism efforts — or both — you are helping to foster student growth that will benefit society in the future. Grade school students who develop literacy and media skills early on are better able to interpret information and communicate ideas as adults.
