HRSM’s Carolina Fund: Support our areas of greatest need, including student internships
The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management’s (HRSM’s) Carolina Fund provides important funding to the college’s areas of greatest need. Donations to this fund are vital to the success of the college, and thus our support of students, faculty and programs. As one of our areas of greatest need, a portion of all donations to HRSM during Give 4 Garnet will help create a new scholarship fund to support access to student internships.
Internships provide students with transformational experiential learning opportunities and give them a competitive edge in forging industry connections prior to entering the workforce. That’s why they are an important part of our curriculum. However, the most beneficial internship for a student may be out of state and/or unpaid, leaving students to cover a multitude of expenses. For some students, this means internship offers must be declined for purely financial reasons. Providing the opportunity for more students to accept these financially challenging internships will open doors and can change the career trajectory of those students for the rest of their lives.
Your donation, at any level, will help make this a reality for our students, so please consider giving today.
“Internships are so important, because you actually see the manifestation of things you’ve learned in the classroom right before your eyes. It’s really powerful, and it really changes something inside of you as well.”
