Strive for 25

The Carolina Survivor Clinic is impacting and changing lives in the Midlands of South Carolina by providing comprehensive and holistic care to refugees who are survivors of torture, war, strife and so much more. The program, which is a collaboration with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia and Prisma Health – Midlands, provides this outstanding and much-needed care through individual treatment and therapeutic programs. Led by director Rajeev Bais, MD, an infectious disease physician and human rights expert, and his co-director, Edwin Hayes, MD, who has dedicated his life to enriching humanity through medicine, the clinic provides complete health screenings, routine check-ups, mental health care, and various community-based programs for refugees in the area. The clinic partners with numerous volunteers to create a supportive and enriching environment for the refugee community, and one which helps them grow and succeed in their new home. The programs provided by the Carolina Survivor Clinic aim to address the various limitations to patients' human agency, while providing the health and wellness resources needed to help rebuild their lives.

We need your help on Wednesday, April 19 as we #StriveFor25 to support the important work of the School of Medicine Columbia’s Carolina Survivor Clinic. We’re aiming to raise at least $25,000 to benefit the more than 1,000 vulnerable adult and pediatric patients our clinic cares for on a daily basis. Your gifts will provide food, tutoring supplies, medical supplies and so much more.

Refugees are an incredibly vulnerable population forced to flee their homes because of war, persecution, or violence. While many are grateful to escape their countries of origin and live in America, starting a new life is difficult. Resettled refugees must navigate through a series of obstacles, including language barriers, employment, health care, and adaptation to a new culture. These factors contribute to feelings of stress and isolation, which impact the health of refugees and their assimilation into their new environments. The Carolina Survivor Clinic literally transforms lives by providing comprehensive and holistic care for refugees and an incredibly supportive environment built on trust and compassion.

Make your gift matter by supporting a program that transforms lives. Give today and help us raise at least $25,000. #StriveFor25
